I KNOW WHO I AM (4)

“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God” 1Cor.2:12.
A lot of Christians haven’t come into the reality of the person of the Holy Spirit, they think He’s just a the Fellow who makes them speak in tongues. But the Holy Ghost is more than that, He’s not an influence, wind or force, He is a Person. He is the third Person in Trinity and the first to be revealed of the Three- Gen.1:2. He is the Power of God and He is the Chief Executor of the Divine.
Our theme verse tells us that the Holy Spirit aside being our Comforter- (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), He is also the Revealer of all that God has freely given to us. This makes us understand that if God hasn’t given us anything, we wouldn’t have had the Holy Spirit (what is He gonna reveal to us?), and if the Holy Spirit hasn’t been given to us, we wouldn’t have had anything (who is gonna reveal them to us?). But glory to God, we have the Holy Spirit and we have all things through Christ Jesus.
In our previous post, we studied that God has given us life and not just any kind of life but Zoe (God’s kind of Life) and to live this higher Life, He has given us all things. But here now, we see that the Holy Spirit is the very Person who cause us to know all that God has blessed us with in Christ Jesus. He is the One that bring us into the reality of Eternal Life and our inheritance, rights and promises in Christ..
“And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified” (Acts 20:32). Now we see that through salvation in Jesus, we have an inheritance (we have received God’s inheritance). Little wonder God calls us His heirs and joint-heirs with Christ- “Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son: and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ” Gal.4:7, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ…” Rom.8:17. We have also been made partakers of His commonwealth and covenant of promise- “That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ” (Eph.2:12-13).
By grace, we have also received victory our death, demons, sin, and all power of darkness. “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” 1Cor.15:55-57.
We have also received grace and fellowship- “For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father” Eph.2:18. “But not as the offense, so also is the free gift. For if through the offense of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift of grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many” (Romans 5:15).
As we have considered who we are, and what we have, in Christ, we certainly can see why the Apostle Paul stated that God has given us “all things” through Christ. We have received forgiven and deliverance from the bondage of sin, we have received restoration into fellowship with God, we have received a holy calling, we are blessed with many promises from God, we have eternal hope and we have all things through Christ.
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh
intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:31-39).
The Word of God is full of all our covenant rights. The more we get down into the Word, the more the Holy Spirit reveals all that is ours in Christ to us and the more we hold on to what is rightful ours.
