“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you”
                            John 14:16-17

Maintaining a constant connection with God is by regular fellowship with the Holy Spirit. It is by keeping a living connection with the Spirit of God.
It is the Holy Spirit that communicates God’s presence to us, He is the one that assures of the God’s abiding presence. The Spirit constantly give witness to God’s presence in us (John 14:16-17). So, when God says in Heb.13:5-6 , “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me,” it is the Holy Spirit that brings that scriptures home to us.
You know Lord Jesus assures us that He (the Spirit) will be with us forever by indwelling us and abiding with us. Hallelujah! That’s some good stuffs right there!! God will never leave you!!!
As a new creation, Christ now indwells us by His Spirit. Christ Jesus and the Father now tabernacles our spirits by the Holy Ghost. You see, you are never alone! And following the leadings and promptings of the Holy Spirit brings us into the fullness of all that God’s presence affords us. For example, Ps.16:11 says “In God’s presence is fulness of joy; at His right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” You see, when you stay in fellowship with the Holy Ghost, perpetually following His leadings and guidance, you won’t lack joy, because He will always communicate God’s presence to you.
It should be noted that the Spirit-led life is a life of conflict, because it is in constant combat with the old ways of the flesh that continue to seduce the believer. “For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law” Gal.5:17–18.
To be led by the Spirit is the same as walking by the Spirit. Gal. 5:16,25: “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulful the lust of the flesh”. “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit”. Only that asides, it carries additional emphasis on the leadership of the Spirit. We do not walk along with Him as an equal, but follow His leading as our sovereign, divine Guide. “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God,” Paul says (Rom. 8:14). The converse is also true: Those who are sons of God are led by the Spirit of God.
Believers do not need to pray for the Spirit’s leading, because He is already doing that. Only our willingness and obedience to follow His leadings is the needful.
When Christ enters a person’s life, the Holy Spirit enters simultaneously (Rom. 8:9). And the moment He enters He begins to lead God’s newborn child in the way of freedom (Gal. 5:1), holiness (Gal. 5:16), Truth (John 16:13–15), fruitfulness in your spirit (Gal. 5:22–23), access to God in prayer (Eph. 2:18), assurance (Rom. 8:16), witnessing (Acts 1:8), and submissive joy (Eph. 5:18–21).
Beloved, the Spirit-led life is an assured life. A life sure of God’s presence and fullness. Be led by the Spirit!

PS: In the next issue on this series, we will consider how to be led by the Spirit. Till then, stay blessed.

Shalom!
